Offered a carrier you don't recognize? Let's review it before you decide.
Thousands of Florida homeowners are getting offers and assignments from carriers they've never dealt with. Before you accept, ignore, or get auto-assigned, a licensed independent agent can review the offer against your current coverage and the rest of the market, free.

The unfamiliar-carrier playbook
Four things to know before you accept, ignore, or get auto-assigned
New name, real license
Every carrier in a takeout letter is approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation to participate in assumption rounds, and regulators have approved more than a dozen new property insurers since the 2022-23 reforms (per Citizens, December 2025). New doesn't mean unvetted.
How to vet any carrier in 10 minutes
Look up its financial stability rating from Demotech or AM Best, confirm its license with FLOIR's company search, and check complaint records through the NAIC complaint index. The same three checks work for any carrier, familiar or not.
Ignoring the letter is also a decision
No response by the deadline means automatic assignment to the carrier with the lowest premium estimate. And if any offer is no more than 20% above your Citizens premium, staying with Citizens is off the table.
The letter is one offer, not the market
Nothing requires you to take the carrier that picked your policy. Before the deadline you may buy from any carrier licensed in Florida, which is exactly what the market comparison is for.

Who Your New Carrier Is
How to check the carrier's financial stability rating, Florida license, and complaint record yourself, plus what your agent reads out of the offer itself.
Offer vs. Current Coverage
Limits, deductibles, roof terms, and endorsements lined up side by side, so a similar premium can't hide thinner coverage.

The Rest of the Market

How it works
Three simple steps to understanding your policy
Tell Ava what you received
An offer letter, an assignment notice, or a renewal under a name you don't know. Start the chat at the top of this page: Ava adjusts either way, and you can type your own questions at any point.
Upload the offer and your current policy
Drop both in, a photo or a PDF of each. Ava reads them, fills in your details for you, and runs the first comparison on the spot. Both uploads are optional.
A licensed agent reviews and shops
A licensed Florida agent puts the carrier's public record, the coverage comparison, and quotes from multiple Florida carriers in front of you before your deadline.
The letter named one carrier. Florida has more.
These carriers have been approved to assume Citizens policies in recent rounds; the name in your letter is likely one of them. As an independent agency we can quote a range of Florida carriers, so the offer competes for your home instead of winning by default. Tell us about your home and we'll shop it across our markets and get back to you before your deadline.
